Shadow of the Bee

Does the bee keeper wonder where his honey bees go all day? The Azaleas near home are in full bloom and there must be a hive of bees nearby. The blossoms are humming with bees most of the day and that activity gave me the idea for this painting. I had to do this piece remembering and imagining the bee’s shadow because they don’t remain still long enough for a studio pose. Other than that the work on this piece was pretty straight forward like a beeline. (sorry just couldn’t resist that)

The sight of hundreds of these Azalea flowers is spectacular but I decided on trying to capture the beauty of a single flower or two. I hope you have enjoyed viewing Shadow of the Bee.

Ciao,
